Part two of our series on scoliosis explores soft scoliosis bracing.
Will I Have to Wear That Ugly Scoliosis Brace?

Let’s face it. It’s tough growing up different. In the sometimes challenging environment of junior high and high school, nothing can single you out faster than to wear something that you can’t hide, such as a bulky scoliosis brace. Sometimes, a scoliosis brace has to be worn for 23 hours a day. One of the better developments that has come along has been the soft scoliosis brace.
Not so very long ago, scoliosis braces had several things in common. They were bulky and ugly. They were also incredibly uncomfortable. A soft scoliosis brace however, is fitted to you, and is, well soft. It helps to keep your scoliosis from getting worse, and in some cases can get your spine back into alignment, and is thin enough to be worn under clothing.
Do I Have to Wear a Scoliosis Brace? Can’t I Just Do Some Exercises?
Do I have to wear a scoliosis brace? If you want to correct your scoliosis, yes. We’re often asked if exercise is a replacement for scoliosis bracing, and unfortunately, no it isn’t. While exercise can help to strengthen the muscles of your back and make them more flexible, it is not a replacement for other forms of treatments for curvature of the spine.
In some cases, bracing can be all it takes to bring a spine back into alignment, particularly in cases where the spine is growing crooked. However, based on the level of curvature you have, you may have another option other than a bulky and ugly back brace. You may be a candidate for our soft scoliosis brace.
This concludes part two of our series. For more information on who is most affected by scoliosis, please read part one and part three as well.
